Have You Heard Lauryn Hills new debut single Neurotic Society. The former Fugee band member released this statement on tumblr explaining the singles rushed released:
Here is a link to a piece that I was 'required' to release immediately, by virtue of the impending legal deadline. I love being able to reach people directly, but in an ideal scenario, I would not have to rush the release of new music... but the message is still there. In light of Wednesday's tragic loss (of former label mate Chris Kelly), I am even more pressed to YELL this to a multitude that may not understand the cost of allowing today's unhealthy paradigms to remain unchecked! - MLH
The controversial rapper slash singer presents a very rushed yet analytical flow against a highly technical yet rough electronic beat. Quite an unusual diversion from her usually soulful melodic hip-hop beats. Regardless of what traditional Lauryn Hill may deem this piece to be, I personally think it is necessary. Ms Hill clearly has a very critical opinion of the music industry and societies that revolve around it, plus with a powerful opening line
We're living in a joke time, metaphorical coke time
It is evident that Lauryn Hill clearly has a strong bold message she wants all her fans to hear.
